My name is Yilin Qian, and I am a Game Design undergraduate at the University of Utah and a Salt Lake City–based photographer working across portrait photography, landscape photography, and wildlife photography.

 

My work is shaped by a strong connection to the outdoors and natural light. Whether photographing people, landscapes, or wildlife, I am drawn to quiet, unscripted moments—when environment, subject, and light align naturally.

 

Through portrait photography, I focus on capturing individuals within real environments rather than constructed scenes. My background in landscape and wildlife photography has developed my sense of timing, observation, and patience, influencing the way I approach every session.

 

I see photography as observation rather than control. Instead of directing heavily, I wait, watch, and respond to what unfolds. My work is about documenting moments as they are: authentic, brief, and unrepeatable.
